The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) tumor, node, metastasis (TNM) staging for all cancer sites has been periodically updated as a published manual many years. last update, the eighth edition AJCC Staging Manual went into use January 1, 2018. since restructured and its processes, staging-related data are now housed new application programming interface. Consequently, next TNM version 9 staging, will be electronically released chapter by chapter. first of is cervical which published. This article highlights changes to staging; these align with International Federation Gynecology Obstetrics staging. most important are: 1) incorporation imaging surgical findings, 2) elimination lateral spread from T1a, 3) addition subcategory T1b (T1b3), 4) histopathology reflect human papillomavirus-associated papillomavirus-independent carcinomas.
